Settlers Ridge Organic Wines remain proactive in our organic process and production by continuing to exceed minimilist accreditation standards; we choose the quality of our wine as a benchmark, our organic credentials providing consumers with true value adding. Wayne and Kaye Nobbs purchased the 101 acre property in 1994, originally part of a dairy farm in the heart of the Margaret River wine growing region. The property enjoys a picturesque, undulating landscape with a large area of remnant Marri and Jarrah forest. Heavy, gravely loam soils, perfect for viticulture, were planted with red globe table grapes and several wine grape varieties, using traditional organic methods .Our Window to the World In October 1999 Settlers Ridge opened Tasting Rooms in their home township of Cowaramup, welcoming organic wine converts from around the world together with those who seek a rudimentary understanding. All those who visit the rooms are given an educational insight into the world of organic viticulture and organic wine production. Organic wine is currently available in two forms, the first being wine produced from organic grapes and the second is wine which not only contains organic grapes but which is also processed using organic methods (i.e. the vats are washed without chemicals). International and national standards vary to minor degrees in respect of definition of organic production; however vary to significant degrees in terms of wine processing.
